The TPS8267x device is a complete 600-mA DC/DC step-down power supply targeted at low-power applications. The package includes a switching regulator, inductor, and input/output capacitors. The design requires no additional components. The TPS8267x is based on a high-frequency synchronous step-down DC/DC converter optimized for battery-powered portable applications. MicroSiPTM DC/DC converters operate at a stable 5.5MHz switching frequency and can enter a power save mode at light load currents to maintain high efficiency across the entire load current range. PFM mode reduces quiescent current to 17µA (typ) during light load operation, extending battery life. For noise-sensitive applications, the device features PWM spread spectrum, which provides a stable output with low noise and reduces the effect of noise on the input. The combination of high power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) and AC load modulation performance makes this device suitable for replacing linear regulators for higher power conversion efficiency. The TPS8267x is packaged in a compact 2.3mm x 2.9mm ball grid array (BGA) package with a small outline (less than 1.0mm thick), suitable for automated assembly with standard surface mount equipment.
