The TPS61088 is a high power density fully integrated boost converter with one 11mΩ power switch and one 13mΩ rectifier switch, providing an efficient small form factor solution for portable systems. The TPS61088 has a wide input voltage range of 2.7V to 12V and can support single or dual cell Li-ion batteries. The device has 10A switching current capability and is capable of delivering output voltages up to 12.6V.
The TPS61088 uses an adaptive constant off-time peak current control topology to regulate the output voltage. Under moderate to heavy load conditions, the TPS61088 operates in PWM mode. Under light load conditions, the device can select one of the following two modes of operation via the MODE pin. One is PFM mode, which improves efficiency; the other is forced PWM mode, which avoids application problems caused by lower switching frequencies. The switching frequency in PWM mode can be adjusted from 200kHz to 2.2MHz by an external resistor. The TPS61088 also implements a programmable soft-start function and an adjustable switch peak current limit function. In addition, the device provides 13.2V output overvoltage protection, cycle-by-cycle overcurrent protection, and thermal shutdown protection.
The TPS61088 is available in a 20-pin 4.50mm × 3.50mm VQFN package.
