On March 27, 2024, Micron announced that its new packaging and testing plant in Xi'an officially broke ground, further strengthening the company's unwavering commitment to its operations, customers, and community in China. During the groundbreaking ceremony, Micron also announced the establishment of its first Packaging and Testing Manufacturing Center of Excellence (CoE) for sustainability in Xi'an.
In June 2023, Micron announced an additional investment of 4.3 billion RMB in Xi'an, which includes the construction of this new plant, introduction of new production lines, and the manufacture of a broader range of product solutions including, but not limited to, mobile DRAM, NAND, and SSD, expanding the existing DRAM packaging and testing capabilities of the Xi'an factory.
Mark Murphy stated that Micron is deeply rooted in China and is committed to multi-level development in China for the long term. Micron's investment in China demonstrates its confidence in the Chinese market, a strong semiconductor ecosystem, and highly skilled talent.
